About therapy with molly…

If you want to skip to where I highlight my education, experience, and any other information you want to know about me- go to the bottom of the page.

Before we get to that, I want to explain the kind of client who changes and feels better after working with me so that you can quickly determine whether or not I might be a good fit for you. This is ultimately about the relationship we're able to create together. My experience working with trauma and relationships informs the work I do.

The clients who see the most change in therapy with me are those who have had sexual trauma, birth/fertility trauma, childhood trauma, or spiritual trauma. Regardless of which, it has been over 6 months since the traumatic event(s) occurred, and they just can't seem to shake it. “Can’t seem to shake it” means different things to different people, but basically there’s something leftover from what happened and it is stuck in your brain or your body somewhere.

You want to feel better much faster than you're experiencing. PTSD is real and it is impacting your quality of life.

My clients have said things like, “I know [insert trauma here] happened a long time ago, but it feels like it is happening now.”

Once we’ve worked through the event using EMDR, they say things like “It actually feels like a memory now. It isn’t visceral anymore.”

The clients with whom I do my best work are comfortable with doing things other than talk therapy. We do experiential exercises together (similar to mindfulness, but with a direction- I'll be prompting you and it is purposeful.)

We will work together to find the connection between the present triggers you are experiencing with what caused them in the past and using EMDR from an attachment-focused lens, we can work to release that trauma from the body so that you can live the life you want to live. EMDR is the main modality I use in intensives, so feel free to learn more about those HERE

I work best with clients who are ready to knock this out. If you are going to work with me, you have to be ready, willing, and able to sit in uncomfortable emotions. (We don't stay there forever, but we will work together to build tolerance for this.)

Finally, some facts about me.

A) I love working with other therapists, as clients and collaborators, so I will be happy to include your current therapist as much as you’d like! From treatment planning to them actually joining the session, let’s talk about what will be best for you.

B) I like seeing people feel better fast. It is a relief to me (because I care about my clients) when they go home from one session (even if it’s a long one) feeling significantly better, rather than multiple sessions spread out over weeks and weeks and weeks.

C) I personally like to get the most out of my own therapy, so I like to offer you the opportunity to do the same. I offer pre-appointment homework to maximize our time together. It’s totally optional, but it is there for you if you want to take advantage.

A quick description of the negative cognitions (thoughts) that my clients struggle with- if this sounds like you I’d love to help you release these thoughts! *These categories come from EMDR and Francine Shapiro’s work. I did not invent this idea.
